Commercial Foundation Lifting and Slab Stabilization for Tucson Transport in Tucson, AZ
Challenge
A steel warehouse facility operated by Tucson Transport in Tucson, Arizona began experiencing significant structural settlement issues, including sinking support areas and a severely cracked concrete slab within one of the building’s two-bay structures. The settlement had caused portions of the slab to decline nearly 10 inches, raising major concerns about structural performance, operational safety, and the long-term stability of the facility.
Because the property was being considered for purchase, it was critical to fully evaluate the extent of the damage and determine a reliable repair strategy before the transaction could move forward. The project required a comprehensive structural assessment to identify stress points throughout the building, document visible damage, and analyze floor elevations to determine the severity of the settlement.
Detailed inspections and elevation surveys revealed widespread slab displacement and structural stress caused by unstable supporting soils beneath the building. A long-term stabilization solution was necessary to restore the affected slab and reinforce the structure against future settlement.
Solution
To stabilize the facility and restore the concrete slab, the repair team implemented a specialized foundation lifting and slab stabilization system using strategically installed support piers combined with PolyLevel® foam injection technology. A total of 10 structural piers were installed to provide additional support beneath the affected slab areas and help transfer structural loads more effectively.
In conjunction with the pier system, approximately 8,000 pounds of PolyLevel® expanding foam were injected beneath the concrete slab across a large treatment area measuring roughly 76 feet by 35 feet. The foam injection process helped fill underground voids, improve soil support, and carefully lift the settled concrete back toward a more level position.
The completed repair successfully stabilized the sinking slab, reduced structural stress throughout the building, and restored confidence in the integrity of the facility. By combining deep structural support with advanced concrete lifting technology, the project delivered a durable, long-term solution designed to help Tucson Transport maintain safe and reliable operations for years to come.
